A finely painted Miniature locket, crafted in 18ct gold and depicting the golden temple in Amritsa. This highly detailed miniature would have been painted in Indian in the late 19th century for the colonial market. The painting is so fine it even shows figures standing on the balcony above the water, the temple has been finished in a gold paint and glows as if sunlight is hitting the temple. Set in an 18ct gold locket with glass locket compartment to the reverse. Brooch pin fitting and hook so this beautiful locket can also be worn as a pendant. Around the bezel set miniature is border of beaded gold, giving a decorative finish to this highly unusual locket.
