Antique Austro Hungarian Enamel and Gem Set Locket. Cherub, Pearls, Turquoise and Ruby's. On Ball Set Long Silver Chain
A superb gem encrusted enamel locket from the Austro Hungarian empire, depicting a cherub stood before a starry night sky. The outer scrolling border has the remnants of the beautifully detailed Renaissance revival enamel decoration. The locket is set with turquoise cabochons, rubies and pearls one being a nice larger sized baroque pearl. once opened you can see the glowing gilt metal with original glass. The reverse of the locket is highly decorated with a chased intricate design.
The locket hangs from an ornate pierced ball and belcher chain.

ERA: Victorian 1870's
THE GEMS: Baroque Pearl 8mm across and fresh water pearls. Four larger rubies approx 3.5mm across and 28 smaller rubies approx 2.5mm, 55 turquoise cabochons approx 2.2mm.
MEASUREMENTS: Locket 40mm across and 72mm drop. Chain 70 cm.
WEIGHT: 36.2gms total.
MATERIALS: Silver, Gilt silver, Enamel, Rubies, Pearls and Turquoise
CONDITION: Good antique condition, wear to the outer border enamel decoration.
HALLMARKS: Austro Hungarian hallmarks and Markers mark BA
