An amazing and rare pair of original gold and garnet Iberian earrings, circa 1770. These beautiful pieces of history are striking and regal. They feature a mix of foil backed red and pink, flat and table cut garnets in closed back settings. The earrings have five drops dangling from a pierced frame work which itself hangs from the top. This features six engraved leaf of petal motifs around a large central garnet. The construction of the earring means when worn they move and dance beautifully catching the light. The ear wires are original hinged European which clip into the top part of the earring.
A sublime pair of earrings perfect for any collector or lover of antique jewellery.

MEASUREMENTS: Width 45mm and drop 70mm
WEIGHT: Approx 12.8gms each
CONDITION: good condition for age with small repairs to the head of the earrings, one earring is missing a hanging loop at the side so the drop has been attached further along, this is unnoticeable when worn.
MARKS: Unmarked, gold acid tested, 18ct gold.
