An ornate early steel swivel matrix, the centre of the scrollwork frame holds a carved ball and post which slides up to release a catch, freeing the seal matrix and allowing it to turn to the next seal.

One matrix depicts a bust of a Roman with the motto 'Acta Vivent', the next depicts an armorial crest with lions and birds, the third shows a bird of prey killing a pigeon
